Our Favorite Meaningful Family Gifts 2024
In our household, we've made a conscious effort to give gifts that have real significance. As the kids moved beyond their early years, we began adding family gifts—those that foster family bonding and create cherished memories, rather than accumulating more possessions. These gifts are the ones I look forward to the most because they gather us together, in contrast to individual presents that the kids enjoy on their own. Perhaps it's just me, but as my children age, I find myself treasuring these moments of togetherness more and more. Below is a list of some of our all-time favorite family gifts, along with a few new ones we're excited to share this year. I hope this list inspires you as you shop for gifts this season!
Christmas Eve Boxes
This is my favorite family traditions and meaningful gifts. On Christmas Eve my kids can open one present which is always their Christmas Eve box. In the box is their Christmas pjs, an activity book or reading book, hot chocolate, popcorn and snacks. After the kids open their box, we get changed into our Christmas pjs and they eat their snacks while we watch a Christmas movie together!
2. The Adventure Challenge Family Edition
This is the gift that keeps on giving. We’ve had this for almost a year and still haven’t done all the challenges. My kids look forward to scratching off a new family challenge. The picture to the right is the very first challenge we did last year. It has been a really fun way to spend time as a family!
3. Allowance Game
This is similar to Monopoly but easier and shorter to play so you can include younger children. I love that this helps with money skills too!
4. Walkie Talkies
Our kids love exploring and playing outside. This is a gift we are giving this year so they can talk to each other while they are outside exploring. A new playhouse is in the works so we figured this would be the perfect gift for this year!
5. Get Out Pass
This was one we wanted to purchase this year but unfortunately most of the places in our state are a bit of a drive for us. I still wanted to include it because we purchased this in the past in a different state and it’s a fantastic experience gift for the family!
