Our Homeschool Journey: A Weekly Reflection
Weekly Reflection: This week has been another busy one, but I was reminded looking out my window that just as the plants are starting anew this is an opportunity for me to do the same. This weekly reflection has helped me to be diligent about pausing to reflect in the midst of life’s chaos. As we close this hectic week, I look forward to an opportunity to rest/renew my mind and body this weekend. Creating around our homestead and taking a bath are two ways I plan to renew this weekend. If you’re feeling tired at the end of a busy week like me, I challenge you to think of some ways you can renew, rest and reflect this weekend!
Our Homeschool Journey: A Weekly Reflection
Weekly Reflection: It’s been a while since I’ve posted a weekly reflection. Sometimes life just tumbles along in all it’s choas and it’s hard to keep up. That’s been the last few weeks. Lots to do around the house and everyone needs my time. Putting things into perspective has been something I’ve been very diligent about this year. Being a household manager or rather CEO can be very taxing. If you’re not careful it can become all consuming.
Our Favorite Books!
In honor of Read Across America Week, I put together a list of our favorite books. I hope this provides some reading inspiration for this week celebrating literacy and reading!

Our Homeschool Journey: A Weekly Reflection
Weekly Reflection: This week we got snow in Georgia! It was actually a good amount of snow that gave us the opportunity to feel a little bit of “home” in our new state. You’ll see on Wednesday that we didn’t do any book work below but rather enjoyed playing in the snow and remembering all of the fun snow days in Ohio. The blessing of life is we have the opportunity to lean into these natural pauses in life.
Our Homeschool Journey: A Weekly Reflection
Weekly Reflection: As we jump back into lessons in this new year, I am reminded of the quiet peace we found when we began this homeschool journey in 2020. There were no more busy mornings rushing off to drop the kids off at school or get them on the bus, no more afternoons preparing for work feeling sad I’d only see my littles for a few minutes before I left for work, no more evening helping my kids through assignments that weren’t clear and no more conversations about things that occurred when they were in school that made them sad or that they felt was unfair that I wasn’t there for.
Winter Homeschool Classes & Groups
It’s officially winter and a new round of homeschool activities will begin in the coming weeks. Below you will find links to the different groups and activities in our area.
Don’t feel guilty if you’re like our family and plan to spend your winter hibernating from the rush of activities. There are opportunities below that are low commitment and I’ll be posting some fun at home winter activities this month too!
Homeschooling Through the Holidays: Simple Ways to Learn and Celebrate

With its to do lists and calendar full of events this adds to the stress of being close to the end of a calendar year as a homeschool parent. You may feel pressure to be at a certain point in your curriculum or maybe you’re at your wits end with a curriculum you thought would be a good fit. Let’s all take a moment to pause and just breathe in the midst of the chaos all around us. In this post, I’m sharing some things I’ve been reflecting on and resources that we’re using that have been helpful. I hope the insight in this post can bring some peace and joy to your holiday homeschooling season!

Our Homeschool Journey: A Weekly Reflection
Weekly Reflection: This week I was thinking back on my why. Why did we make the decision to homeschool? There were many reasons, but the biggest one was the amount of time we had together as a family. When I was trying to make a decision in 2020, I decided to calculate the hours I would spend with my children if they stayed in school compared to if we homeschooled. Seeing the two numbers on paper was life changing and sad.
Our Homeschool Journey: A Weekly Reflection
Hey friends! I am going to share a recap of our homeschool week along with the lessons we do to give a glimpse into home education for the next month or so. I thought this may be helpful for those that are considering or just getting started on their homeschool journey to see what homeschooling can look like. Of course, homeschooling will look different for each family which is the best part of homeschooling. Let me know if you find this helpful and would like to see more of this!
