Summer Fun Idea #2: Homemade Ice Cream Party 🍦
Summer just officially started this week, and the temperatures have been high. This week’s summer fun idea is perfect for the record-breaking hot summer we’re having. In this post there are tips on throwing a fun summer ice cream party with your kids and some friends!
Get the Party Started
Cue Ice Cream Freeze by Hannah Montana and have a pre ice cream dance party. I know this song is an oldie but it’s perfect to get all the silly wiggles out before you start working on your ice cream masterpieces!
Feeling crafty? You can find small party snack cups at Hobby Lobby or Walmart. These paper cups are perfect for decorating with markers, crayons or grab some fun ice cream stickers for the kiddos to personalize. Are cones more your thing? Let each person decorate the paper around their cone.
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for…Ice Cream!
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream Without a Machine
Here’s What You’ll Need:
1 Gallon & 1 quart size Ziploc bags
1 small bag of ice
Measuring cups
1tsp Vanilla
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Salt
1 cup Half &half
1 cup Milk
Fill the quart size bag with 1 cup of half & half and 1 cup of milk. Then add a teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 cup of sugar. Fill the gallon size bag about halfway with ice and pour about a 1/2 cup or so of salt over the ice. The salt makes the ice colder by lowering the temperature at which water freezes🤯. Put the quart size bag inside the gallon size bag with ice, make sure both bags are fully sealed and shake it for 5 minutes straight. This is really fun if you take turns shaking the bag up. Check it after five minutes, it should be frozen and ready to enjoy! You can do this with a sandwich size bag and quart size bag too just make sure to reduce the recipe.
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream With a Machine

4 1/2 Cups Half and Half
2 1/4 Cup Sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp. Vanilla

It’s Time to Decorate!
There are lots of options for ice cream toppings. From the traditional sprinkles, hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts, mini chocolate chips and cherries. To the very creative like gummy bears/worms, different types of candies and chips (we haven’t tried this one 🤨). There’s also the healthier option of loading your ice cream up with your favorite fruits or fruit syrup. Whatever you choose be creative and have fun!
