When I chose the rug above for our mudroom, I didn’t think through how messy it would get every week. In a family of six there are always a plethora of stains to clean off of various items. I discovered this stain removing hack many years ago. Last week when I ran out of stain remover, I used this to clean my kid’s soccer jerseys and I thought I should share this! In this post I’ll show you an easy and cheap way to remove stains off different fabrics along with a bonus hack I found!

Cheap, Easy & Very Effective Stain Remover

Fill a spray bottle halfway full of hydrogen peroxide then add a few drops of Dawn dish soap…that’s it! You can use this on clothes, carpet, rugs, couches, mattresses and more. Just shake it up, spray it on the stain, let it sit for a minute or two then start to scrub and watch the stain disappear. Make sure to test it out on a small spot first. Add a little baking soda if you need to deodorize a surface. This is what I used on the kids’ mattresses when we were potty training to keep them fresh and looking new! Bonus Dawn Powerwash Hack!

The first time I saw Dawn Powerwash in a store I looked at the price and wasn’t convinced it was worth it. That is until Kroger offered a coupon a few years ago and I gave it a try. Now it’s a staple in my cleaning routine. I use it for the oven, stovetop, microwave and bathrooms. It works fantastic! About two years ago we were preparing to sell our home and I noticed some stains on our white siding and windows where the kids often played. I decided to try some of the Dawn Powerwash on it and it worked! Fast forward to a few weeks ago, our white trim was stained terribly with this red Georgia dirt and the natural grime that happens with the elements. I had been avoiding cleaning the exterior of our house when I remember the trick I tried a couple of years ago. Now I will say it did take a bit of scrubbing this time around to get the dirt off of the bottom trim of the house but I am very pleased with the results.

Here’s what I did. I used the pressure washer to remove the dirt then sprayed with Dawn Powerwash and started scrubbing. Finally I rinsed it clean. Not only did the exterior of our home look great but it also cleaned the windows really well! There are several different scents in the Dawn Powerwash line, but this one is my favorite 👉 DAWN Dish Platinum Plus RF Gain. I love how fresh and clean it smells.

I hope these hacks help your cleaning life get a little easier, happy cleaning!
