Our Favorite Easter Cookies
Easter is a time for family gatherings, egg hunts, and of course, delicious treats! This year, why not create some warm memories with a batch of shortbread Easter cookies?
I have a favorite recipe we’ve been using for years on holidays. It's friendly for bakers of all experience levels, uses only three ingredients, and always turns out delightful. The best part? It's endlessly customizable for decorating fun!
Head over to Chew Out Loud to grab the full recipe and get baking.
Here are some tips for making this a fun family activity:
Get the kids involved! Let them help with measuring ingredients, mixing the dough, and of course, the most important part: decorating!
Embrace creativity! Use colorful icing, sprinkles, candy pieces, or cookie cutters to transform your cookies into adorable bunnies, chicks, or Easter eggs. I included my favorite icing recipe below.
Make it a competition! Challenge your family members to create the most unique and festive cookie design.
These cookies are more than just a treat; they're a way to connect with loved ones and create lasting memories. So put on some music, preheat the oven, and get ready for some Easter baking fun!
My Favorite Easy Icing Recipe:
Powdered Sugar (about two cups)
Milk (about 1/3 cup depending on the consistency you want add more or less)
A Little Vanilla (about a teaspoon or so)
Food Coloring (about 1-2 drop for pastel colors, more for darker colors)
Tip: Add more milk for runnier flood icing and less milk for thicker icing that is perfect for outlining cookies and adding designs.
We’d love to see how your cookies turn out or share any additional tips below. Happy Easter from our family to yours!
