Here’s what’s coming up this month:

  • 10/1: Deep Blue Sea - Presented by the Springer Opera House (Columbus Botanical Garden, Columbus)

    • The Columbus Botanical Garden is happy to announce that we have partnered with the Springer Opera House’s First Act Program to bring you a production of Deep Blue Sea!

  • 10/1: Oakhurst Farm’s Homeschool Day (Oakhurst Farm, West Point)

    • Tuesday, October 1st, and Wednesday, October 2nd, from 9AM-NOON ET, we welcome all of our local homeschool families, co-ops and small group organizations to visit for a fun-filled, one-of-a-kind FARM experience! NO RESERVATIONS NEEDED, just provide your homeschool/co-op/small organization info at check-in, and you’re all set! Yes, Independent homeschoolers are welcomed, as well!

  • 10/2: Knee-High Naturalists (3-6 years) (Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, Columbus)

    Looking for options for your early learners? Oxbow’s Knee-High Naturalists program is designed for ages 3-6 years, joined by a parent, and will explore the world during programs led by an Oxbow Meadows Environmental Educator. Each session will focus on a new topic that encourages working together to discover, imagine, laugh, craft, and explore the outdoors. $5 per participating child

  • 10/3: Homeschool Hangout - Cupcake Decorating (Harris County Public Library, Hamilton)

    • Join us for an hour of learning for our home school families. The sessions are held on the first Thursday of every month. Topics change each month. Registration is required to ensure we have enough supplies for all. Please call us at 706-628-4685 to register.

  • 10/4: Homeschool at the Farm: Creek Study (Painted Pony Farm, Warm Springs)

    • Geared towards families who homeschool. Join us in learning about our aquatic neighbors, what makes them so special, and hopefully catch a few during a fun-soaked stream exploration. Wear clothes that can get wet. Limited space, so pre-registration and pre-payment is required at the Park Office.
      Held offsite at the Painted Pony Farm in Warm Springs, GA
      Ages 7 & up

  • 10/4: Homeschool Skate (Starlite Family Fun Center, Sharpsburg)

    • Inviting all homeschoolers to come skate with us! The first Friday of the month 1:00pm-4:00pm

  • 10/4: Homeschool Book Club (Lagrange Memorial Library, Lagrange)

    • Please contact Stephanie Perez at stephperez22@gmail.com for more information and a list of upcoming books. 4th-6th graders

  • 10/8: Homeschool Play Day (Chuck E Cheese, Columbus)

    • On the 2nd Tuesday of every month, join us for Homeschool Play Days! From open – 4pm, score 90-minutes of All You Can Play games, a reusable Play Pass card, unlimited soft drinks, and all the E-Tickets you can earn on gameplay for just $11.99 per kid. A savings of up to $30 off! Simply arrive at your Fun Center and tell a cast member you’re there for Homeschool Play Day to receive this offer.

  • 10/9: Under The Big Top Arts in Education performances (Springer Opera House, Columbus)

    • Join Margo, a young circus performer, as she embarks on a journey to discover her special talent and find her place in the circus act. From daring acrobatics to whimsical clowning, Margo tries it all, each attempt bringing her more frustration. Along the way, she encounters a colorful cast of characters who help her realize that true magic lies within. Witness Margo’s charming exploration of self-discovery, friendship, and the enchanting world of the circus.

  • 10/9: Enviro Explorers (6-12 years) (Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, Columbus)

    • Oxbow’s Enviro Explorers program series is designed for ages 6-12 years, joined by a parent, and will explore the world during programs led by an Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Educator. Each session will focus on a new topic that inspires working collaboratively in the areas of nature exploration, discovery, data collection, hypothesizing, experimenting, and creating. Tickets only required for the participants. Adults and children age 2 and under are free. Limited tickets available. Walk-ins not guaranteed entry.

  • 10/10: Homeschool Happenings (Cusseta-Chattahoochee Public Library, Cusseta)

    • Storytimes, movies, arts & crafts, and makerspaces designed for our homeschool families (but all are welcome!).

  • 10/10: Budding Naturalist (Columbus Botanical Garden, Columbus)

    • Topic: Snuggle In, Sleep Tight: An Exploration of Hibernating Animals

      1st-5th grade students (+ 1 free caretaker). Embark on a cozy and enchanting journey into the sleepy world of hibernating animals. Second Thursday of every month!

  • 10/10: Homeschool in the Park: Fall Weather Patterns (Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, Pine Mountain)

    • Geared towards families who homeschool and other students and parents. In case you missed the last one, Tyler Allender and WTVM Storm Team will be joining us in learning about fall weather patterns. Learn some interesting facts and tips about our weather in the fall. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required at the Park Office or by calling (706) 663-4858. Event will be held at picnic Shelter #2 below the dam in the campground.

  • 10/17 or 10/18 : Homeschool Science Days (Callaway Resort & Gardens , Pine Mountain)

    • Gardening Galore: Learn how to grow vegetables and herbs in your own backyard. Students will have the opportunity to plant cool-season vegetables at the Pioneer Log Cabin and will get to take their own veggie seeds home.

  • 10/22: The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System(River Center for the Performing Arts, Columbus)

    • When the class gets lost on the way to the planetarium, Ms. Frizzle saves the day by blasting into outer space for an epic interplanetary field trip! But when rivalries both old and new threaten to tear the students apart, our young heroes must learn to pull together or risk getting forever lost in the solar system. Hop on the Magic School Bus for a ride in this new musical adaptation based on the original book series published by Scholastic.

  • 10/24: Early Explorers (Alabama Wildlife Federation, Millbrook, AL)

    • Early Explorers is a preschool program that ANC offers to the public monthly best for children 8 and under. Last Thursday of each month, 10-11am. Includes various theme related activities! All materials will be provided. Program begins promptly at 10am. Cost is $10 per participating child, adults are free. Space is limited, please call ahead or email Matt Vines. Please purchase your program ticket in advance. Please check in at the receptionist desk upon arrival for the program.

Weekly Events:

  • Homeschool P.E. (Sky Zone, Columbus)

    P.E. Break at Sky Sky Zone, Fridays 1pm-3pm // Only $5 per HomeSchool Student (not available during School breaks and Holidays) Discounted jump prices specifically for Homeschool students. Take a break from the books and get some awesome, healthy exercise in on a consistent basis. Not valid during school breaks (i.e., Summer) Discounted prices offered for all HomeSchool students of any age. Every Weekday during the school year between 1pm – 3pm.

  • School Day Play (Urban Air Adventure Park, Newnan)

    Don't forget starting next Friday we will have Jumperoo from 10am-12pm and School Day Play with follow right behind from 12pm-3pm.
